Do I need a doctors referral? You do not need a doctors referral to attend physiotherapy as a private patient. If attending under Workcover, Veterans Affairs, Enhanced Primary Care and CTP a doctors referral is needed. How long will I have to wait for an appointment? 3 physiotherapists are on duty each day. You can generally schedule an appointment on the day that you ring if times are not important to you and you do not mind who you see. If you wish to see a particular physiotherapist and are limited by times, you may have to wait one to two days. We run a cancellation list if for some reason all physiotherapists are booked for the day. Generally, if you ring early in the morning we can accommodate you on the same day. Can I claim from my fund ? If you have private health cover with extras you can claim from your fund. We have HICAPs which provides immediate health fund rebates. You will need to check with your fund as to the rebate payable. Can I have physiotherapy under Medicare ? Physiotherapy is only available under Medicare if you are referred by your GP under the Enhanced Primary Scheme for patients with chronic complex conditions. Only 5 visits are allowable in a calendar year with any allied health professional. For your initial consultation, which takes an hour, the fee is $75, and you will receive a rebate of $50.05 from Medicare. We bulk bill the standard consultation sessions. What happens to my account if I am attending under Workcover? To attend under Workcover a doctors referral is needed with a current Workcover certificate. You need to notify your employer and complete a claim form for the employer's Workcover insurer promptly. As long as all the paperwork is in place we will bill your insurer. If your claim is denied the patient is repsonsible for any outstanding accounts. If your injury is a recurrence from a previous incident we generally require permission from your insurer before proceeding with treatment under Workcover. What happens to my account if I am attending under CTP? To attend under CTP a doctors referral is required and the CTP insurer needs to accept liability for treatment. Your physiotherapist will submit an Notification of Commencement of Treatment form to your CTP insurer after your first visit. If the CTP insurer delays or denies liability, we require the patient to pay any outstanding accounts and claim from the insurer direct. What are the current fees?
